Week 35: May 13 - 17, 2024
Our main learning objectives this week* are:
Reading/Language Arts: (CCSS ELA: 1.RF.1, 1.RF.4a, b, 1.RF.3b) We are continuing with Module 4 in language arts. This module is all about opinion writing and identifying the character’s perspective in stories. We will be studying a variety of Cinderella tales from all over the globe, as well as other fairy tales and fractured fairy tales. We are learning about using prepositions, conjunctions, and pronouns, as well as many key vocabulary words in the stories. We are also practicing phonemic awareness skills with digraphs and blends, spelling words with bonus letters, base words with suffix s, and learning words with the glued sounds for _ang, _ong, _ing, _ung, and _ank, _ink, _onk, _unk. We are also practicing r-controlled vowels and vowel teams. We are practicing the trick words for Fundations units 10 - 14 until the end of the year, as well.
Math: (CCSS 1.MD.4) Completing chapter 7 - Making and Reading Graphs. Moving on to chapter 8 - Units of Measure and Time to hour and half hour.
